Engines and gearboxes
Mahindra is offering the XUV700 with a 2.0-litre turbocharged mStallion petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed Aisin sourced torque converter automatic transmission.
The diesel engine will be offered in two states of tune. The base MX variant will get the lower state of tune in which the engine puts out 155 PS of max power and 360 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered only with a manual gearbox. In the higher variants, the engine produces 185 PS of max power and 420 Nm of peak torque. If you opt for the automatic transmission then the torque output is increased to 450 Nm.
The petrol engine is relatively simple. It gets only a single state of tune in which it puts out 200 PS of max power and 380 Nm of peak torque. So, even if you opt for the base variant, you are getting the most powerful engine in the segment. Having said that, the base variant will not be offered with an automatic transmission. As we already know, both the engines will also come with all-wheel drive options and the diesel engine will also get four driving modes, namely Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom.
