Mahindra XUV700 vs Citroen C5 Aircross SUV in a drag race

Mahindra XUV700 is currently one of the most popular SUV in the market. Just like Thar, Mahindra XUV700 also took market by storm. Mahindra surprised everyone with the pricing and list of features. It is currently the most advanced and feature loaded SUV from Mahindra in India. Citroen also launched their first SUV C5 Aircross in Indian market. In comparison to XUV700, C5 Aircross is a premium 5-seater SUV which competes with the likes of Jeep Compass. Here we have a video where a Mahindra XUV700 and Citroen C5 Aircross SUV is seen in a drag race.

The video has been uploaded by Power On Wheel on their YouTube channel. The video starts with both the drivers explaining the power and torque figures of the SUVs. On paper it felt like Mahindra XUV700 was winning. The 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine of XUV700 generates 185 Ps and 450 Nm of peak torque. The Citroen C5 Aircross is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 177 Ps and 400 Nm of peak torque.

Citroen C5 Aircross is available with a diesel engine only while Mahindra XUV700 comes with petrol and diesel engine options with manual and automatic transmission options. Both SUVs were lined up on the start line and the vlogger was in the Mahindra XUV700. Multiple races were done to find out a clear winner in the race.

The race started and both Mahindra XUV700 and Citroen C5 Airocross moved off the line at almost the same time. Both SUVs were next each other and Mahindra XUV700 started pulling away but, C5 Aircross was making things easier for XUV700. Just before the SUVs reached the finish line, the Citroen C5 took the lead and won the race by a small margin. In the second race, the vlogger did not launch XUV700 properly and that worked in favour of Citroen.

Both the drivers then brought the cars back to the start line and exchanged the car. Vlogger was impressed with the performance of Citroen C5 Aircross and said that XUV700 is not winning because C5 Aircross is lighter. Both the drivers lined up the car and started racing. Surprisingly, in the second round Mahindra XUV700 was leading. Vlogger later mentioned that he had not engaged Sports mode and that could be the reason why it did not win. The redid the second round with Sports mode engaged and even that did not make much of a difference.

Vlogger can be heard saying that, it is actually a proof that his friend is good at launching cars and that is why he is managing to win the races in whichever car he is. On paper XUV700 is powerful than Citroen but, in comparison to C5 Aircross, XUV700 is heavier. In the video, the results were actually a tie but, we feel that if both the drivers managed to launch the SUVs properly, there are chances that the Citroen C5 Aircross might win the race. C5 Aircross has quicker response as it is lighter than the XUV700.
