Mahindra XUV700 is currently one of the most discussed 7-seater SUVs in the market. It was launched couple of months ago and delivery for the same started last month. It is currently the most advanced SUV from Mahindra. The XUV700 competes with cars like Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus. It is available in both 5 and 7-seater option and comes with several segment first features. We have seen several drag race videos of Mahindra XUV700 on internet and here we have a drag race video where Mahindra XUV700 competes with Tata Harrier.
The video has been uploaded by Aayush ssm on his YouTube channel. The video starts with both the drivers talking about the engine specifications of the SUVs that are there in the video. Initially Tata had offered a 140 PS version of Harrier. Later the engine was retuned and it now generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. Mahindra XUV700 in the video is a diesel version and it generates 185 Ps and 450 Nm of peak torque.

Both SUVs used in the video are automatic versions. The vloggers line up the SUV on the start line. Vlogger was driving Tata Harrier while his friend was in the XUV700. The Zoom drive mode was activated in XUV700 while Sport mode was activated in Harrier. The race starts and both SUVs have a good launch. Both SUVs move off the line aggressively and wheelspin can be heard in the video as well.
Both SUVs were next to each other and as the speed started rising, Mahindra started showing its true colours. The SUV slowly moved ahead and took the lead after 80 kmph mark. Tata Harrier was struggling but, it did a good job till 80 kmph. The race was conducted once again to make sure that XUV was winning.
Later they bring the SUVs back to the start line for second round. vloggers swapped the vehicle and then started racing again. This time vlogger was driving the XUV700. The race started and Mahindra XUV700 instantly took the lead. In the second round, the Tata Harrier did not stand a chance as his friend could manage to launch properly. Another race was conducted in round two and the result was the same. Except, Tata Harrier got a better launch than the first race.
Mahindra XUV700 was declared the winner in the race. The result was actually predictable because, XUV700 generates 15 Ps and 100 Nm more power and torque than Tata Harrier. Tata Harrier is less heavier than XUV700 but, that weight advantage was no enough for the Harrier to win the race. The bigger and powerful engine along with sporty drive mode helped it win the race without any problem.
This does not mean that Tata Harrier is bad SUV. Both SUVs perform well in their respective segments. Tata Harrier is available with a diesel engine only. It is powered by a Fiat sourced 2.0 litre turbocharged engine. The XUV700 on the other hand gets 2.2 litre turbo diesel and a 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine. Both petrol and diesel are offered with manual and automatic transmission.
