Mahindra launched the all-new XUV700 SUV in the market last year and ever since then, it has been a popular choice among buyers in the segment. Mahindra XUV700 became so popular that it currently has a waiting period of over an year depending up on the variant you choose. It is the most feature loaded SUV from Mahindra stable. We have seen several videos of the all-new Mahindra XUV700 on the internet. It competes with cars like Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari in the segment. Here we have a video where Mahindra XUV700 is seen competing against a Toyota Innova Crysta in a drag race.
The video has been uploaded by Ashish Beniwal on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger who owns a Mahindra XUV700 petrol automatic competes with Toyota Innova Crysta diesel manual. The Innova Crysta seen here is special because it is a 2016 diesel manual MPV that has done close to 2 lakh kms in odometer. Vlogger drove the Innova Crysta before the race and was surprised to see the performance.

Both the vehicles were then brought to a closed road for the drag race. The race was conducted in 4 rounds and after two rounds, the driver’s swapped the vehicles. In the first round, the Innova Crysta was in Eco Mode and there were no drive modes in the petrol XUV700. Vlogger turned the traction control off and waited for the signal to start the race. The race started and Mahindra XUV700 immediately took the lead. Toyota Innova Crysta can seen struggling and at no point, the MPV could overtake XUV70. Actually the gap between both the vehicles kept on increasing.
In the second round, the Innova Crysta was in Power Mode and the traction control in XUV700 was turned on. In this round, vlogger let the Innova driver move from the start line first. He started the race after Innova Crysta to see whether his car can beat the Innova Crysta. Even in this round, the Innova Crysta did not stand a chance. Within seconds, Mahindra XUV700 overtook Innova Crysta and maintained the lead throughout the race.
For the third round, vlogger drove the Innova Crysta and his friend was in the XUV700. They start third round and the result remains the same. In Eco mode, the Innova could not keep up with XUV700. In Power mode similar results were seen. The main reason why Innova Crysta could not win the race is because of the power. In comparison to Mahindra XUV700, Crysta generates less power and torque.
Innova Crysta diesel seen here in the video is powered by a 2.4 litre turbocharged engine that generates 150 Ps and 343 Nm of peak torque. The Mahindra XUV700 petrol on the other hand generates 200 Ps and 380 Nm of peak torque. This is a huge difference and that along with the condition of the engine of the Innova Crysta also affected the result. This does not mean Innova Crysta is bad vehicle by any means. It is still one of the most popular MPV in the segment.
