Mahindra's Maxx Maxi pick-up truck CNG variant launched

 

Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) has launched a CNG variant of its Maxx Maxi pick-up truck, The Economic Times has reported. The CNG Mahindra Maxx Maxi will priced at Rs 379,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), about Rs 50000 more than the cost of the current Mahindra Maxx Maxi version that is available in the Indian market.

Vivek Nayer, senior vice-president, Marketing, Automotive Sector, said, “With the launch of this truck, we have completed the range of our offerings in the commercial CNG segment between Rs 130,000 to Rs 500,000.” 

ET quoted Nayar as saying that CNG is available only in 8-11 cities right now, but CNG infrastructure is expected to be grow in the next two to five years. 

The Mahindra Maxx Maxi truck has a payload capacity of 900 kgs and a maximum cargo loading capacity of 1.5 tonnes, and can hit a top speed of 100 km/h. 

The company has said that the CNG version of the Mahindra Maxx Maxi truck has a range of 250 kms for a single filling and provides 40 per cent savings.

The diesel variant of the Mahindra Maxx Maxi truck gives a fuel efficiency of 11 km/l for in-city and 14 km/l for highway driving.

The truck has a macho, rugged look on the outside, with flaring fenders and muscular bumpers, and a spartan look on the inside. 

The interior of the Mahindra Maxx Maxi truck has a simply laid-out instrumentation cluster will fuel and battery levels gauges on both sides. 

The dashboard and seats are in black while the steering wheel and door panels are in grey. 

In 2008, M&M had launched a special edition of its Maxx Maxi pick-up truck, with only 1000 units, that came with a radio/MP3 player, new seat fabric, and dual exterior rear-view mirrors. 

The Mahindra Maxx Maxi special edition pick-up truck was launched in champagne color and came with a 18 kgm MDI engine.

The Mahindra Maxx Maxi truck special edition was priced at Rs. 3.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).
