Famous Malayalam comedian and actor Hareesh Kanaran has bought a new Jeep Compass. Interestingly, he was already using a Jeep Compass. He also explained why he bought the Compass again. Hareesh said that he has been using the Compass for the past three years and has experienced its safety and comfort. So, when he decided to get a replacement vehicle for his first Compass, he bought another one but this time he went for the top-end S variant. The top-end Compass S has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 29.34 lakhs ex-showroom. The on-road price of the Compass S is almost Rs. 35 lakhs.
Hareesh explains “Though friends had advised me to go for a Benz or a BMW, I never thought I needed that much luxury. I decided to buy the Compass again because it fulfils my requirement of providing a comfortable journey. It was an exchange deal. I bought the top variant ‘S’ this time. The Compass is one of the best vehicles in its segment and looks great too”

He also talks about his previous cars. The first car that he ever drove was the Maruti Omni. He lost control and hit a post because of which he dropped his plans of learning driving.
First car was Maruti 800 then he bought Zen
His first car was a pre-owned 1985 Maruti 800 which he bought for Rs. 25,000. He used that vehicle to learn to drive. The second vehicle was a Maruti Zen that he bought for Rs. 1.30 lakhs by taking a loan. Hareesh says that he still uses that Zen.
First new car: Volkswagen Polo
The first new car that Hareesh bought was a Volkswagen Polo. He bought it during the shoot of the film ‘Marubhumiyile Aana’. Bijuchettan and other people recommended Polo by saying that it is the best car. So, Hareesh bought one.
First SUV: Jeep Compass
The Compass was Hareesh’s first SUV. He bought the Compass in 2018 by looking at its comfort and safety features

Earlier, this year, Jeep launched the facelift of the Compass. It is currently the most affordable vehicle that Jeep sells in the Indian market. The prices start at Rs. 17.79 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 29.34 lakhs ex-showroom. It is available in four variants, namely Sport, Longitude, Limited and S.
Engine and gearbox
You can get the Compass with a petrol engine or a diesel engine. The petrol engine measures 1.4-litre in capacity and is turbocharged whereas the diesel engine has a capacity of 2.0-litres.
The petrol engine produces 163 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel engine produces 170 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. You can also get a 4×4 version if you opt for the diesel engine.

Jeep Compass goes against SUVs like MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Tucson and Volkswagen Tiguan.
