Almost all of the best selling cars of India are practical ones which are best suited for normal usage. However, enthusiasts often buy cars which offer a punch in terms of performance but in our country, that number is quite low. Many enthusiasts who are family people generally buy a regular car but the bug in them refuses to die out. The result are some pretty unexpected and unusual cars that are different from any thing other n roads. Here are 7 such unusual cars that have been modified outrageously .
Maruti Alto

The Alto is Maruti’s cheapest and best selling car in India. It is a practical, no nonsense small car that is cheap to run and maintain. SOme people, however, seem to disagree with that. The Alto pictured here had a similar owner who refuse to bow down to the fact that the this car is a simple one. He has repainted the vehicle in a bright green shade which gives the car an instant appeal. There is a custom body kit fitted on the body too. The body kit comprises of a new front and rear bumper, custom fenders, wider wheelarches and a custom bonnet. The vehicle now sits on larger 14″ Vossen replica wheels.

Talking of mechanical changes, the headers have been replaced and the air filter has been upgraded to a K&N unit. At the back, the owner has added a cycle carrier. Guess you never knew that the Alto could be made to look so radical..
Hyundai Eon

The recently discontinued Eon was a great entry level hatchback which was popular because of its price and practicality. This one here though looks like a completely different story and comes with a host of modifications done to it.

The Eon you see here is no less than a celebrity and also has its own FB page. It has got a massive body kit which makes it look absolute bonkers. There is a front splitter along with vertically mounted LEDs and air vents before each fender. The grill has also been reworked and misses out on the Hyundai badge. The rear also is interesting with a big bumper along with a diffuser which has been integrated into the rear bumper itself. The cost of this body kit is around Rs 45-50,000 as per the owner.

The Eon had two engine options, a 800 cc unit which made 55 Bhp of power along with 75 Nm of torque and a larger 1.0 liter unit which makes 68 Bhp of power and 94 Nm of torque. The car has been replaced by the new Santro, though the Santro has been placed a segment above than the Eon.
Tata Nano

The Tata Nano caught the attention of the whole world for being the cheapest proper four door car. However, the car didn’t do so well for the company which was betting high on it. The masses took the ‘cheapest’ word to heart and sales took a hit after the initial response. Since the Nano has the engine at the back and the engine powers the rear wheels, it could have been a fun car if it had more poweer and was properly stanced.

Seems like someone took notice of the demand and the Nano you see above is just that, more powerful and stanced. It has been modified by JA Motorsport. They have lowered the car, given it massive fenders and a custom wide body kit that makes the Nano look like a mad vehicle. It now comes with more fire power as well. Powering the Nano now is a 1.3 liter engine that makes a massive 230 Bhp and 190 Nm. You see that, 230 Bhp in this thing means things are going to be on the wilder side.

The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox and can do 0-100 in sub 6 seconds which is blithering fast. The top speed has been limited to 160 kmph. It has also been equipped with slick tires by MRF which makes it a grippy handler.
Maruti Wagon R

The tall boy of the automotive industry, Maruti WagonR isin’t something that looks very happy to be modified. The car does very very in what it is intended to do, ferry families in comfort. Some people, however, do not see things as they are.
Same is the case with this owner who has outrageously modified his ride. He has gone for a massive body kit on the car which apart from any other WagonR on road. The car now gets a new blacked out grill sans any chrome bling, larger air vents in the bumper along with custom LED lights as well. The owner has also opted for aftermarket rims with chrome lining. The end result, we must say, is quite radical.
Honda Amaze

The Amaze’s sibling, the Brio is very famous in the modifying circuit. However, the Amaze was never car that was modified. We found one example of a tastefully done Amaze though from down South.

This one has a custom body kit which includes a new front bumper, side skirts and a new rear bumper. The front bumper has a splitter as well as canards which make the car look mean, something the Amaze isn’t actually. The car also sits on lager Tenzo racing rims
Hyundai Santro

Hyundai made its entry into the Indian market with this car. It had a long run and was very well appreciated by everyone. The car was pretty popular among those looking to buy an entry level vehicle back then. Here is an example of a modified Santro Xing.

The car is the bright green shade which came as an option from the company. It has black bumpers. These bumpers have been redone and now the car sports a wide body kit. This includes larger front bumper, new front fenders and the fact that the car has a two tone theme, it makes the car stand out.

Under the hood, the owner has got in a new Automech exhaust system along with a HKS Intake. The car now sits on 14″ concave rims.
Toyota Etios Liva

The Etios Liva has always been a good product. It had a lot of space, was decent to drive and being a Toyota, reliability is something that the owner didn’t have to bother about. There are a few modified examples of the Liva which can been seen in the country though.

This one here has been done by Perfamana and though it looks pretty normal, it is a crazy car. Why? The owner has added a Garrett turbocharger to the Liva and it now produces a massive 200 Bhp with the help of a custom ECU upgrade. To keep the engine running cool, there is a Garrett intercooler as well. To keep the boost in check, a Turbosmart BOV has been added. A Red Rooster Racing exhaust has been added to make it sound sweet.

To keep the car close to the ground, the suspension has been replaced by a Tien one. Visually, there is nothing much different. There is a set of auxiliary lamps up front, a custom body kit with LEDs at the bottom. The car now sits on a larger set of aftermarket rims.
