Maruti Baleno-based Toyota Glanza launched: Prices start from Rs. 7.22 lakh

Toyota has launched its Maruti Suzuki Baleno based premium hatchback in India today. Called the Glanza, the prices of this new launched car start at Rs. 7,21,990 for the base G MT variant while the top V CVT variant is priced at Rs. 8,90,200. The Glanza will rival the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Honda Jazz in its segment. It is being manufactured by Maruti Suzuki at its Gujarat facility and till date, Maruti has already dispatched a total of 2,666 Glanzas to Toyota according to the latest sales numbers. Here are the prices of the Toyota Glanza laid out variant wise.

Maruti Baleno-based Toyota Glanza launched: Prices start from Rs. 7.22 lakh

G MT – Rs. 7,21,900

V MT – Rs. 7,58,200

G CVT – Rs. 8,29,900

V CVT – Rs. 8,90,200

As was already known, Toyota is offering the Glanza with two petrol engine options that’ll come mated to either a manual or automatic (CVT) transmission. There are two trim levels on offer, G and V, where V will be the top spec trim. However, the difference between the features and equipment level on both these trims is quite negligible. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, driver and co-driver seat belt reminders, Isofix child seat anchors and a speed warning system are standard across the range.

Comparing the G and V trims to the trims on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, they are equivalent to the Delta and Alpha trims. Prices for the Delta 1.2 Dualjet and Delta 1.2 AT (comparable to G MT and G CVT) are Rs. 7.25 and Rs. 7.68 lakh respectively. Prices for the Alpha 1.2 and Alpha 1.2 AT (comparable to the V MT and V CVT) are Rs. 7.58 lakh and Rs. 8.90 lakh respectively. Another point of difference is the three-year/1, 00, 000km standard warranty that Toyota is offering on the Glanza. The Baleno, in comparison, comes with a standard two-year/40,000km warranty

The features list on the Glanza is almost exactly the same as found on the Baleno. The Toyota hatchback comes with auto climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (called Smart Playcast here) with Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, navigation and voice commands, precision-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, steering-mounted audio controls, push-button start, driver’s seat height adjust and folding wing mirrors.

As already said, the differences in features between the G and V variants of the Glanza are quite negligible. The exclusive features that the V variants of the Glanza will come equipped with are UV-cut glass, LED DRLs for the headlights, different LED treatment for the tail-lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto headlights with follow-me functionality and a reverse parking camera.

The Toyota Glanza gets powered by only petrol engines as there are no diesel options on offer here. The petrol engines it comes with are both 1.2-litre petrol units from Maruti Suzuki, the same ones that are found on the Balneo. The 1.2-litre petrol churns out 82 Bhp of power along with 112 Nm of torque. The second engine option is the 1.2-litre, K12C DualJet engine with a mild-hybrid system. This engine produces 89 Bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. This engine, however, is only available on the G trim variants.

Both the engines get a 5-speed manual transmission with the non-hybrid engine getting a CVT box too. As for the fuel efficiency figures, the V MT delivers 21.01 km/l, the G MT (Hybrid) variant delivers 23.87 km/l and the G CVT/V CVT variants deliver 19.56 km/l. These mileage figures are in fact identical to that of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. To let you know, both these engines will be BSVI compliant.
