Maruti Baleno Facelift spotted without camouflage ahead of launch [Video]

Maruti Suzuki will be launching the Baleno Facelift in the second half of February. The manufacturer has not yet released the official pictures. However, the pictures of the upcoming hatchback have been leaked online. The video is uploaded on YouTube by Ketan Dutt Sharma. The images show us the front and the rear of the 2022 Baleno.

We can see that the front of the 2022 Baleno is all-new. It has a new set of LED projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps. There is also a new bumper. The premium hatchback is finished in Celestial Blue colour and the second picture has the Baleno in Grandeur Grey.

The 2022 Baleno has a  low-slung stance which gives it a sporty appearance. The pre-facelift Baleno had a more flowy design which started to look dated when compared to the rivals. The new one looks fresh and modern. There is a new grille too. The chrome strip under the grille looks like the current one but it is now thicker.

The side profile also gives a sporty stance to the  Baleno. It seems like this is the base variant of the Baleno because it does not have alloy wheels or even wheel covers. There is a new set of slit tail lamps that use LEDs. The bumper is slightly different from the current one.

Engine and gearbox

Maruti Suzuki will be offering the Baleno Facelift with a K12N,  1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It belongs to the K-Series family of Suzuki’s engine. The max power output of the engine is 90 PS and the peak torque is 113 Nm. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.

The manufacturer will no longer offer the CVT automatic transmission with the Baleno. This has been done so that Baleno’s automatic variants could be priced aggressively and they could undercut the automatic variants of the rivals.

Variants

The 2022 Baleno will be offered in six variants. The names of the variants are the same as the current ones. However, Maruti has added some variants. So, there is Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha (O) and Alpha. The manual gearbox will be offered as standard on all the variants. The AMT gearbox would be offered with Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha (O) and Alpha.

Colours

The colour options of the 2022 Baleno has also been leaked. It would be offered in Splendid Silver, Lux Beige, Grandeur Silver, Opulent Red and Celestial Blue. The only colour that has been carried forwarded from the previous Baleno is Pearl Arctic White.

Dimensions and weight

The 2022 Baleno has a length of 3,990 mm, a height of 1,500 mm and a width of 1745 mm. The wheelbase measures 2520 mm. So, the new Baleno is shorter in length and height when compared to the pre-facelift Baleno. The wheelbase has not been changed. The gross vehicle weight has gone up by 70 kgs. It used to be 1,340 kg but now is 1,410 kg. The weight could have been increased because of the added features and thicker sheet metal which should increase the build quality of Baleno Facelift.
