The Hyundai Elite i20 is one of the most popular and best selling premium hatchback in the country. It directly challenges the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in its segment and both cars give a nail-biting competition to each other in terms of features, engines, pricing, comfort and other aspects. As of now, Hyundai is working on the next-generation model of the hatchback and it has been spied testing on European soil as well as in India a while back. There are no clear pictures of the production-spec model yet and for the same, here is a render by Brazilian graphics designer Kleber Silva which shows how the car could turn out to be when launched.
The current generation Elite i20 sold in India is one good looking car in itself. This render above, though, takes things to the next level and we are pretty impressed with the results. Though it is just a render based on spy shots and the final production-spec car might look a little bit different, it for sure is the way we would want the car to look like. The front end carries a sharper grille along with angular headlamps which look similar to the ones found on the Grand i10 Nios recently launched in India.
The redesigned bumper and LED DRLs are other bits that enhance the design. This one maintains a similar silhouette as on the current generation car but with a dash of style. The side profile matches the current model to quite an extent. The car features sleeker ORVMs and updated bumper design. Nonetheless, seems like Hyundai’s design team will do a good job with the next-gen Elite i20. As for the interiors of the car, nothing is known as of now. However, Hyundai is likely to go for an all-new design theme since it is a generation update.
Further, the South Korean manufacturer will look to step up its game due to the upcoming launch of the Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz. A larger touchscreen infotainment system which is likely to come with the Bluelink connectivity feature, updated instrument cluster, as well as a new dashboard design, are some of the additions that could be found on the Elite i20. The dashboard design and the cabin theme is also likely to be refreshed.
To let you know, the new Hyundai Elite i20 will be built on the updated version of the current car’s platform. Just like the interiors, there is no official details ot about the engine options that will come with the next-gen Elite i20. What we expect though are upgraded, BS-VI compliant versions of the outgoing engines The petrol engine may come linked to a standard 5-speed MT or an optional CVT. The diesel engine will probably remain paired with a 6-speed MT. The new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 7-speed DCT could also possibly make an appearance on the new Hyundai Elite i20.
