Maruti Suzuki recently launched the 2020 version of the Vitara Brezza compact SUV in the market. Brezza has been the most popular and highest selling compact SUV in the segment for year. It competes with cars like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the segment. The 2020 version of the SUV came with visual as well as mechanical changes. One such addition was the petrol engine and the Smart Hybrid technology in the automatic version. Maruti Suzuki is now working on bringing the same Smart Hybrid technology in the manual version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
According to a leaked document that was published on Indian Autos Blog it is very much clear thar Maruti is working on including the Smart Hybrid system in the manual version too. As per the document, the hybrid technology will be available in all the four trims (LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi+) of the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It is the same technology that we had seen the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in 2018.
With the Smart Hybrid technology being introduced in the manual gearbox version, both automatic and manual will be available with this technology. This will also help increase the fuel economy of the vehicle. Currently the automatic version of the Vitara Brezza 2020 is more efficient than the manual version as it is equipped with the Smart Hybrid technology.
In terms of changes, the 2020 version of the Brezza has couple of changes in comparison to older version. The front grille has been revised, the headlamps gets dual projectors in the higher trims, the bumper has been revised and it also gets a new set of alloy wheels. At the rear it gets an LED tail light with a revised bumper and a faux skid plate just like the one seen at the front.
Under the hood, the 2020 Vitara Brezza gets the new 1.5 litre petrol engine that replaces the old 1.3 litre diesel engine. It is the same engine that we have already seen in Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6. The Brezza is available with a 5-speed manual as well as a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox which replaces the AMT from the earlier version. With the introduction of Smart Hybrid system in the manual version there is a possibility that the prices for the manual version may slightly go up. The car will be more fuel efficient, and in the long run, the higher cost is likely to be made up by lower fuel costs.
