Maruti Brezza beats Tata Nexon in August 2022 sales

Every automotive enthusiast in the nation anticipated that the country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s (MSIL) sub-compact SUV Brezza will be taking over the market. And rightfully so because since its launch in 2016 it has maintained its position as one of the top-selling vehicles in the segment. Recently MSIL revealed its sales figures for the month of August 2022 and through those, it was found out that the company has sold 15,193 units, of the new model making it yet again the champion of the subcompact SUV segment.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza pipped the previous segment leader the Tata Nexon by selling 108 more units in the month of August and it defeated the new Hyundai Venue by quite a margin which sold around 11,240 units last month. The Brezza also witnessed a YoY sales growth of 18 per cent as it clocked 12,906 units in August 2021. Considering that just a while ago Maruti Suzuki reported that more than a lakh reservations had been made for the 2022 Brezza since its unveiling two months ago. The company claiming the top seat is not a surprise to anyone. The company also revealed that it had received over 45,000 pre-bookings even before the car was officially unveiled.

Maruti Suzuki introduced the all-new Brezza in India priced at Rs 7.99 lakh, ex-showroom in June of this year. Maruti Suzuki started accepting bookings for the all-new sub-4m compact SUV at a payment of Rs 11,000. In terms of the changes, the new Brezza has been designed from the ground up and has gone through a massive upgrade.

A new design language that is significantly sleeker than the previous one has been applied to the front end. New, slender headlight units made entirely of LEDs surround the grille, and dual-LED daytime running lights for the new Brezza also give the vehicle a distinctive look. The bumper design has been updated and is now more sturdy with thick cladding. New fog lamps and a silver fake skid plate have also been fitted by Maruti Suzuki. From the side, the Brezza also appears to be rather fresh. New roof rails and dual-tone alloy wheels have been fitted by Maruti Suzuki.

A new interior and a raft of brand-new amenities have also been added to the brand-new Maruti Suzuki Brezza. A new, layered style has been added to the dashboard layout. The air conditioning vents are situated just below the new 9.0-inch infotainment screen that Maruti Suzuki has also introduced. There are several settings on the flat-bottomed steering wheel. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki has reinstated the vehicle’s long-missing rear air conditioning vents. The motorised sunroof is one of the new Brezza’s most prominent features. The brand’s Brezza has a sunroof for the first time in 2022. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki has included wireless phone charging, a new 360-degree camera view system, and a 5.5-inch head-up display (HUD).

Under the hood of the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is another significant upgrade. A 1.5-liter K-Series DualJet engine is installed in the SUV which has been borrowed from the new XL6. The new Brezza has a maximum power output of 103 PS and a peak torque output of 135 Nm. A mild hybrid system is also available from Maruti Suzuki. There is a new 6-speed torque converter with paddle shifters and a five-speed manual transmission, just as the XL6.
