Maruti Celerio X brochure leaked; Bookings now open

Dealers of Maruti have started taking bookings for the Celerio X. The booking amount is Rs. 10,000. The car has already reached the Maruti stockyard. This indicates that it will soon be despatched to dealers. The launch will also happen this month. Here is a leaked brochure of the car.

As the brochure reveals, the car will be sold in 8 variants – Vxi, Vxi (O), Vxi AMT, Vxi AMT (O), Zxi, Zxi (O), Zxi AMT and Zxi AMT (O). The Celerio X has many new features that differentiate it from the regular version. It has body cladding, a new front bumper, roof rails, a new grille, a new rear bumper and a different design for the tail lamp.

The wheel caps of the lower variants will be blacked out while the top end variant will get blacked out alloys. These changes make the car look more muscular. Interiors get orange accents and new seat covers. Engines and transmissions will remain the same.

The Celerio has a 1 liter K Series petrol engine with 3 cylinders. This engine produces 67 Bhp and 90 Nm. It can also be ordered as a CNG-Petrol bifuel engine. The gearbox is a 5 speed unit. It is available in manual and automated manual (AMT) forms. The same options may be provided on the X version as well.

The Celerio is no longer available with a diesel engine. Maruti used to offer a twin cylinder, 800 cc turbo diesel option on this car. But the engine was too unrefined and noisy for use on personal cars. So, it was dumped from the Celerio. Maruti sold the last few diesel Celerios at large discounts.

Pre-booking a car has some advantages. You will be able to take delivery of the car without long waiting periods that are usually associated with popular cars. However, there are disadvantages also. 1. You won’t be able to test drive without booking. 2. You may have to lose some part of the booking amount if you decide to cancel your booking. In the Celerio X’s case, pre-booking is a safe option. 1. The car has been in the market for a long time. 2. No major mechanical changes are being made in the X model.
