Maruti Ciaz Facelift launched in India: COSTLIER than Hyundai Verna

Maruti Suzuki has just launched the facelifted version of the 1st generation Ciaz C-Segment sedan. The car is priced at Rs. 8.19 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. This makes the Ciaz slightly costlier than the Hyundai Verna, which is now the least priced car (starting from Rs. 7.9 lakhs) in the quartet of hot-selling sedans that also include the Honda City and the Toyota Yaris.

Variant wise, ex-showroom Delhi prices of the Ciaz are as follows.

Petrol MT: Sigma: Rs. 8.19 lakhs, Delta: 8.80 lakhs, Zeta: 9.57 lakhs and Alpha 9.97 lakhs.

Petrol AT: Delta: 9.8 lakhs, Zeta: 10.57 lakhs and Alpha: 10.97 lakhs.

Diesel MT: Sigma: Rs. 9.19 lakhs, Delta: 9.80 lakhs, Zeta: 10.57 lakhs and Alpha 10.97 lakhs.

The new Ciaz is the longest and widest in its class, and sets a benchmark for space and comfort among its rivals. Other segment leading features on the car include best fuel efficiency figures for both the petrol and diesel-engined variants, and mild hybrids on both the petrol and diesel variants.

The facelifted Maruti Ciaz gets an all-new petrol engine that displaces 1.5 litres. The 1.5 litre K15 petrol engine makes 104 PS of peak power and 138 Nm of peak torque. Fuel efficiency is rated at 21.56 Kmpl, the best in class number. The engine gets the Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) mild hybrid system that offers torque assist, brake energy regeneration and an idle stop mechanism. The same system is also available on the 1.3 litre Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 90 PS-200 Nm. 5 speed manual gearboxes are standard on both engines, while the petrol motor also gets a 4 speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

All variants of the facelifted Maruti Ciaz get twin airbags, ABS+EBD, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder alert for both driver and passenger seats and a speed alert warning system. Cruise control and a reverse parking camera are available on the higher variants. The automatic variants of the car get additional safety features such as hill hold assist and electronic stability program.

As for exterior changes, the car gets new headlamps and tail lamps, reprofiled bumpers, a new grille, a revised alloy wheel design and a range of new accessories. Interiors get a mild facelift with wood inserts and a new TFT instrument cluster. Rear AC vents are standard.
