Maruti Suzuki is the largest car manufacturer in India and is ahead of the other manufacturers by a large number. Maruti Suzuki recently added a second MPV to their line-up, which is based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and together, both the cars have outsold every other MPV in the Indian market.
According to the latest sales figures, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 6,284 units of the Ertiga in the month of September. The brand has also sold 3,840 units of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 in the same month. Together, these two MPVs from Maruti Suzuki account for 10,124 units. Both the cars together outsell every other MPV in the market. The duo of XL6 and Ertiga have outsold the vehicles like Toyota Innova Crysta that has accounted for 4,225 units in the month of September, Mahindra Marrazo, which has only 892 units against its name, Renault Lodgy, which has only 78 units sold in September and all other such vehicles. Even the newly launched and much cheaper Renault Triber sold 4,710 units, which is much lower than the accumulated numbers of the Ertiga and the XL6.
The all-new Maruti Suzuki XL6 is based on the Ertiga, however, it looks quite different. Maruti Suzuki launched the XL6 as a premium version of the Ertiga and it is sold only through the premium Nexa dealership network of the brand. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga continues to sell through the Arena dealership network of the brand, which is quite expansive and is spread across the nation. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is aimed at the buyers who want a premium cabin and good looking MPV at an affordable price. The Ertiga will continue to cater to the wide range of customers and cab fleet owners.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes with a lot of features that are missing from the Ertiga. Since it is positioned as a premium product, the car offers all-LED headlamps and more such features. Also, the XL6 only gets 6 seats with two captain seats in the middle row instead of the bench seats. The XL6 also gets leather-covered seats, which makes it even more comfortable than the Ertiga.
The main difference between the Ertiga and the XL6 is the engine options. The Ertiga gets both petrol and diesel engine options while the XL6 only gets a single 1.5-litre petrol engine option with SHVS mild hybrid system. Since Maruti Suzuki has already announced that they will not offer any diesel car in the market after the new BS6 compliance norms come into effect, all the new cars that get launched in the market by the manufacturer are powered only by the petrol engine option.
