Maruti Ignis Limited Edition launched; Aimed squarely at Hyundai Grand i10?

Maruti has launched a new limited edition of its most affordable Nexa model, the Ignis hatchback. This version doesn’t get a fancy name but surely ups the value quotient given that the car already comes with discounts and offers. The Ignis, barring the Gypsy, is Maruti’s lowest selling model and this new version will aim at pushing up sales to an extent. The Hyundai Grand i10 seems to be the prime target. Here is a quick look at the official TVC.

While official pricing isn’t out yet, the video above showcases the changes in this limited edition. We spoke to our friendly neighbourhood Nexa showroom and they have confirmed that customers can opt for all the additions at an attractive price. The limited edition gets accessories worth Rs. 45,000, which will be passed on to the customers at a special price of approximately Rs. 30,000. The add-ons will be a dealer fitment. The package includes side-door cladding with Ignis branding, a rear spoiler and a lower body kit that comes with silver moulding for both the bumpers, similar to skid plates found in cross-hatchbacks.

On the inside, this limited edition Ignis comes with premium seat covers. This version is based on the Delta trim that comes with keyless entry, audio system with Bluetooth, electric ORVMs, front and rear power windows, ABS and dual airbags.

Maruti Ignis Limited Edition launched; Aimed squarely at Hyundai Grand i10?

The Limited edition version will be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol motor that comes with a choice of a manual and an AGS (automatic) gearbox. The diesel Ignis was discontinued earlier this year owing to poor sales. Talking of which, Maruti sells roughly 3000-4000 units of the Ignis on a monthly basis, making it the lowest selling model in its line-up (not taking into consideration the Gypsy).

The car is currently being sold with great offers including an exchange bonus of up to Rs 30,000. This Ignis locks horns with cars like the Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo. Although packed well, it hasn’t found many takers due to its unconventional design in and out. And while it looks small on the outside, the Ignis does offer good passenger space. It is also an easy car to drive in urban environment and the AGS option makes it an even better tool.
