Maruti launches Alto K10 Plus

Maruti is a manufacturer known to introduce special edition vehicles at the drop of a hat. Now, we have a special edition of Maruti’s entry level hatch, the Alto K10. The new special edition is christened the Alto K10 Plus and will be available with a few more added features.

What are the changes?

The new special edition has close to 10 new features, that add to the visual and practical appeal of the car. On the outside, you now get a rear spoiler, chrome layer on the wheel arch, chrome garnish on the fog lamp housing, body coloured door handles and mirrors, a new chrome belt line and side moulding.

On the inside, you now get a piano finished stereo console, new remote central locking, rear parking sensors and front power windoes.

Positioning?

The Plus variant will be priced at Rs 3.4 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi making it close to Rs 20,000 cheaper than the VXi trim level. The company has a whole range of variants on offer, from the base LX to the top of the line VXi (O) in manual, to the VXi in AMT and the CNG range as well. Prices start at Rs 3.27 lakhs and go all the way till Rs 4.13 lakhs for the AMT variant with airbag.

The car continues to be powered by the same 1.0 liter 3-cylinder K10 engine which was previously doing duty on the car. It produces 67 Bhp and 90 Nm. The engine is either mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT (AGS as Maruti likes to call it).

The K10 has been a good seller for the brand since it was introduced. However with the coming of the Kwid 1.0, competition has seriously increased and Maruti is facing the heat. Renault recently did launch a special edition version of the Kwid as well and this takes the fight to the Kwid head on.
