Maruti has introduced a special edition of the Celerio in India. The limited edition variants get additional features in the VXi and ZXi trims and are priced at Rs. 12,000 extra over the regular variants. The Celerio is only available in petrol engine and the price starts at Rs. 4.03 lakh and goes up to Rs. 5.23 lakh for the range topping ZXi AMT.
The limited edition Celerio gets a host of cosmetic upgrades like new body graphics, side mouldings and door visors. Maruti has also added a bit more chrome to the fog lamps, head lamps, windows, tailgate and lights. Inside, the cabin gets a new dual-tone seat covers and matching steering wheel cover. The limited edition Celerio will also get rear parking sensors and ambient lighting in the footwells.
Mechanically, the car will remain unchanged. The Celerio is powered by 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 67 Bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired to a 5-speed manual and gets a choice of Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Maruti Celerio is India’s first car to introduce the AMT in the affordable car segment. Following the popularity of the Celerio, many manufacturers started offering AMT in the vehicles.
Maruti discontinued the diesel version of the Celerio due to extremely low sales. The Celerio diesel was company’s entry-level diesel car but failed to attract customers. Maruti, however, offers CNG version of the vehicle. The petrol hatchback returns 20.36 km and the CNG version returns 31.79 km/kg as per ARAI certification.
Maruti Celerio currently sells 6,000 units per month and competes against the likes of Tata Tiago, Hyundai Eon, Renault Kwid 1.0, Datsun Redi-Go 1.0 and more. With the festive season around the corner, we expect more manufacturers to launch special edition models to attract the customers with additional features.
