Regular Maruti Suzuki dealers (now known as Arena) will offer all three packages while NEXA dealers will offer only Platinum and Royal Platinum packages. All ne Maruti cars are covered under a 2 year/40,000 kilometer warranty as standard. These extended warranty packages are add-ons that are optional. Prices of the extended warranty packages vary from car to car.

The Gold package extends the standard warranty to the 3rd year/60,000 Kms. The Platinum package extends it to the 4th year/80,000 Kms while the Royal Platinum package offers 5 years/100,000 Kms extended warranty. Maruti sells the Omni, Alto 800, Alto K10, WagonR, Celerio, Swift, Dzire, Gypsy, Eeco, Ertiga and Brezza through the Arena (regular) dealerships. The Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz and S-Cross are sold through NEXA (premium) dealerships.

To buy or to-not-buy?

Extended warranty is basically peace of mind. If you’ll own the car for more than 2 years, it makes sense to opt for one of the various extended warranty packages Maruti offers. This is particularly useful for those who own a car for about 5 years. However, if you plan to modify your car, don’t opt for an extended warranty as claims will be summarily denied.

The extended warranty packages cover the engine, high-pressure pump, AC compressor, Electronic Control Module (ECM), turbocharger assembly, steering assembly, suspension struts and many more parts. However, some wear and tear components like bulbs, battery, tyres, spark plugs, brake linings, belts, hoses, filters and clutch are not covered by this warranty. More details on inclusions and exclusions are available on Maruti’s website.
