Maruti Now Rules Rs 10-20 Lakh Car Segment With Grand Vitara, Brezza, XL6 and Jimny launches

Maruti Leaves Rivals in the Dust with Premium Vehicle Sales Surge.

Being the largest carmaker in India, Maruti Suzuki knows how to maintain its leadership in the country’s car market and make a strong comeback even after facing challenges. This was evident when Maruti Suzuki quickly regained its market share after losing ground to competitors due to the absence of SUVs in its product lineup. Within just one year, Maruti Suzuki made a remarkable turnaround with the launch of four major SUVs, helping it reclaim its position as the leader in the Rs 10-20 lakh car segment.

Maruti Suzuki has left its rivals far behind with the surge in sales of its premium vehicles. Although Maruti Suzuki entered the compact SUV segment relatively late, it made the right moves. It all began with the introduction of the all-new Brezza, which replaced the aging Vitara Brezza and helped Maruti Suzuki regain the top spot in the sub-four-metre compact SUV segment, which had been captured by Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue.

However, Maruti Suzuki didn’t stop there. Its next target was the midsize SUV category, where it had no presence. Despite facing tough competition from established names like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki launched the Grand Vitara, a brand-new SUV. It quickly became one of the top-selling SUVs in the midsize segment, consistently securing a spot in the top three.

Maruti Suzuki has also demonstrated its ability to create benchmarks in popular price segments with niche products. Recognizing the potential of the Rs 10-20 lakh bracket, Maruti Suzuki introduced two all-new vehicles in the sub-four-metre compact space: the Fronx coupe-SUV and the Jimny off-roader. These SUVs made their debut at the Auto Expo 2023 and were launched in India soon after.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, based on the popular Baleno platform, had a strong foundation to build upon. Its coupe-like stance, rugged design elements, spacious cabin, and fuel efficiency, inherited from the Baleno, made it an instant favorite among customers. The reintroduction of the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine further enhanced its appeal.
