Maruti Suzuki is offering benefits worth Rs. 80,000 on the SX4 Diesel Celebration Edition. The offer is valid only for one week only starting from June 25, 2012. The SX4 ZDi Celebration diesel is priced at Rs. 9.11 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, but after the offer the Celebration edition can be bought for about Rs. 8.3 lakh ex-showroom, and this includes an exchange bonus on your old car.
The offer on SX4 diesel celebration edition includes reverse parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity kit, turn indicators on outside mirrors, neck support, door sill guard, seat covers and steering wheel cover with leather feel. The SX4 celebration edition also gets new body decals, new seat fabric, chrome inside door handles, cubic printing on arm rest and chrome AC vents.
Does the current offer make the SX4 diesel sedan a better ‘value for money’ proposition when compared against its chief competition, the Nissan Sunny diesel and Hyundai Verna diesel?
SX4 diesel versus Sunny diesel
As per the offer, the SX4 diesel celebration edition is roughly Rs. 62,000 cheaper than the Sunny XV diesel, that’s priced at Rs. 8.93 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. Though both the cars are loaded with lots of safety such as ABS & airbags and comfort features such as automatic climate control and integrated audio system, the SX4 celebration edition comes with more useful features like reverse parking sensors and Bluetooth connectivity not found in the Sunny XV.
So, features wise, the offer makes the SX4 celebration edition diesel a better value for money car than the Sunny XV diesel.
SX4 diesel versus Verna diesel
As per the offer, the SX4 diesel celebration edition is nearly Rs. 1.50 lakh cheaper than the Verna CRDi SX 1.6 variant. Both the cars have features such as dual airbags, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, and integrated music system with Bluetooth and alloy wheels.
The Verna SX 1.6 comes with rear disc brakes and rear view camera which are not offered in the SX4 diesel. However, since the SX4 diesel celebration edition is significantly cheaper than the Verna SX 1.6 variant, price-wise, the SX4 diesel wins here.
Value for money
The benefits worth Rs. 80,000 make the SX4 diesel a better value for money car than the Sunny XV diesel and Verna 1.6 SX diesel. Further the SX4 diesel is known for its fuel efficiency at a claimed 21.5 Kmpl, low maintenance costs and wide sales and service network of Maruti Suzuki. Sales of the car had slumped to under 400 odd cars in the past month despite other carmakers seeing strong demand for diesel cars, and this is an attempt by Maruti to boost sales.
