What’s new?

For starters, the looks. The car’s now much more aggressive looking from the front, with a vertical slat grille that’s very prominent, wrap around LED headlamps, and a reprofiled bonnet. The rear’s more or less similar to the outgoing model save for badging while the profile’s also similar save for the new alloy wheels.

On the inside, the S-Cross Facelift feels more premium than before as the materials used have changed. The dashboard goes soft touch while satin elements have been added to various parts. Here are the exact interior changes, in Maruti Suzuki’s own words,

  • Satin chrome accent finish, soft touch dashboard.

  • Well-coordinated seat fabric design.

  • Intuitive touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and compatibility.

  • Piano black coloured central panel, together with a premium leather finish arm-rest.

Under the hood, Maruti’s added the familiar SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System) mild-hybrid system to the tried-and-tested 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine (90 Bhp-200 Nm). The hybrid system consists of an idle-stop mechanism, brake energy regeneration and a high capacity battery that assists engine power during acceleration.

The motor is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox that drives the front wheels of this crossover. However, there’s no 1.6 liter Multijet diesel engine that used to be offered on the older S-Cross. The S-Cross rides on 16 inch wheels shod with 215/60 section tyres (wider than before), and comes with a 180 mm ground clearance. The car is the priciest Maruti Suzuki on sale currently, and will be sold and serviced through the NEXA chain.
