Maruti S-Presso micro SUV launch timeline revealed!

Maruti Suzuki has been working on a new small car since some time now and the car is ready to be launched soon. Called the S-Presso, it has been designed as a Micro-SUV that will chiefly rival the likes of the Renault Kwid and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT among others. For the uninitiated, the S-Presso is based on the Future-S concept showcased by Maruti Suzuki at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. As for its launch, a report by ACI says that the S-Presso will be launched sometime in September this year which makes it a few weeks away from now.

To let you know, the S-Presso has been developed by the Suzuki’s Indian Research and Development team. The design end engineering was carried out at Maruti Suzuki’s Rohtak facility in Haryana with support from the Suzuki Motor, Japan. The car has been spied testing a few times in past and from the spy shots, a few details about the car’s exterior design as well as the interiors have been revealed. Since it will be pitched as a Micro-SUV, the Maruti S-Presso will feature a high ground clearance along with slightly butch styling. It is expected the S-Presso could come with other exterior elements like LED headlamps and DRLs on the top-end variants as well as LED taillights among others.

On the interiors front, it would feature the SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system, a roundish instrument cluster with orange backlight and a high driving seat among others. The car is expected to be based on the Heartect platform and could be powered by the BS6-compliant version of the 1.2-litre petrol engine that also does duty on several other Maruti vehicles. A diesel engine, however, is unlikely. This is because Maruti Suzuki has decided to cease the production of diesel cars from April 2020, which is the date when BSVI emission norms will come into play. Only high-end model slike the Ciaz and Vitara Brezza could get diesel engines after the BSVI date but only if there is enough demand for the same.

The all-new car will be sold through the Arena dealership network of the brand, which has been upgraded recently to offer world-class services. Apart from the S-Presso, Maruti is also working on launching a new premium MPV called the XL6. It will be based on Ertiga and will be launched in the market in August this year. It will be a more luxury version of the regular Ertiga and will come with captain seats in the middle.  It gets several design changes on the outside to make it look different from the regular Ertiga and this includes a new front fascia along with cladding all around the car.
