India’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is currently working on a small micro SUV called S-Presso, which will be launched on 30th of September. Now a report from ACI has revealed spy pics of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. This is the first time ever that the S-Presso has been spotted without any camouflage.
The S-Presso is the production version of the Future-S Concept that was earlier shown at the Delhi Auto Expo. The micro-SUV like stance of the car suggests that it is aimed squarely at the Mahindra KUV100. From the images we can see that the S-Presso has retained the boxy shape which we had seen on the Future S Concept. The bonnet line is kept quite high and has almost square shaped headlamps. It seems like the whole car has a boxy design language.
There is chrome on the front grille to give it a micro SUVish look and feel, just like the one we have already seen on Renault Kwid. Other details that we could notice are the big SUV like wheel arches, steels rims instead of alloys and blacked out B-Pillar. Another detail is the positioning of the turn indicator. it is integrated within the front fender and LED DRLs are also positioned under the headlights.
Interior and rear images are not available as of now, but we in the rear we expect a plain design like on the side profile of the vehicle. While reports suggest that the interiors of the S-Presso are likely to follow a dark grey theme. but we think it could also be something like beige theme which would make the interiors feel more airy. The upcoming S-Presso is also expected to get features like a touchscreen infotainment system which will hopefully support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as this is a feature that its rival currently offer.
Engine details of the new Maruti micro SUV are not available as of now. Like the Renault Kwid and the Mahindra KUV100, the S-Presso will only be available with a petrol engine option and it will be the BS6 compliant version of the 1.0 litre , three cylinder K10B unit. This engine churns out 68 Bhp of power and 90 Nm of torque. S-Presso is likely to get a manual and an AMT transmission and a total of four variants are likely to be made available. Maruti Suzuki plans to position the car such so as to aim young professionals, college-going students and people who are looking to buy a stylish car as their first vehicle. It is likely to be priced under Rs 5 lakh bracket. S-Presso will not be replacing any of the existing models and will be sold through Arena dealership networks across the country.
