The Toyota Glanza has been launched now with prices starting from Rs. 7.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car is almost the same as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in every aspect apart from minor changes like the front grille design and Toyota badging all around. A major question in a lot of people’s mind right now is whether there are any substantial differences between the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza or not. As an answer, we can say that there are a few differences between the two. Here then are 5 differences between the two premium hatchbacks, a few of which can be deemed important.
Warranty
Now the warranty given by a manufacturer is something that is quite important for most of the buyers. Toyota, therefore, is offering a three-year/ 1,00,000 km standard warranty on the Glanza which is the best in the segment. Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, offers a standard two-year/40,000km warranty on the Baleno. Therefore, if warranty is your priority, Toyota Glanza is the car for you.
BSVI engine: Cleaner emissions
Though emission norms may not seem to be a major factor in the car buying process, it for sure helps the mother nature remain cool. Since we are talking about the differences between Glanza and Baleno and not whether they make one car better than the other for an average buyer, emission norms can be tken into account. Both the engine options on the Glanza (1.2-litre petrol and its mild hybrid version) are BSVI compliant. However, on the Balneo only the mild hybrid version of the 1.2-litre petrol engine is BSVI compliant while the regular 1.2-litre unit is not BSVI compliant.
Automatic folding mirrors
While almost everything is the same in terms of features on both these cars, Toyota has stuffed in a few extras neatly which may come to notice at a glance. This includes automatic folding mirrors, something which the Toyota Glanza comes with but the Maruti Suzuki Baleno does not. The Balneo comes with electric adjustable and retractable mirrors but not automatic folding mirrors. The difference here is that auto fold mirrors get back to open position as soon as the car is started and fold back when the ignition is turned off.
Colour options
The Toyota Glanza comes with 5 colour options while the Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with 6 colour options. Both of them have basic colours like grey, white and silver but the difference lies in more funkier shades. Also, the Balneo can’t be had in red unless you go for the RS variant. On the Glanza however, you can have red colour on any of the four variants you buy. Baleno, however, can be had in Orange shade but that’s not an option on the Glanza.
Badges and Grille design
This is the most obvious difference in both the cars but since we are talking about all the things that are different between both the cars, it must be included. The front grille of the Glanza gets two chrome bars flowing with the pattern of the grille while in the Baleno, the grille is surrounded by chrome but the centre part consists of black plastic pieces designed to have a wavy/flowing pattern. As for the badges, the front and rear end along with the steering wheel of both the cars bear the badges of the respective manufacturer. Other badge differences include model name, variant name and some other minor badging.
