While some other car manufacturers are striving to sustain diesel cars within the compact SUV category, Maruti Suzuki is taking a distinct approach with the Brezza CNG. Offering an alternative to the now-discontinued 1.3-litre diesel-powered Vitara Brezza, the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG boasts impressive fuel economy without compromising on driving enjoyment. Maruti Suzuki has recently unveiled a visually engaging commercial that underscores this very aspect.

In its recent commercial, shared across its social media platforms, Maruti Suzuki vividly portrays how the Brezza CNG is not only focused on fuel efficiency but also provides an enjoyable driving experience. The commercial showcases two young men engaging in a friendly competition with the Brezza CNG and a flying drone, capturing the SUV’s dynamic driving capabilities.

The new Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG primarily targets individuals who seek the fuel efficiency of a diesel engine without actually opting for one. Following the implementation of BS6 emission norms, Maruti Suzuki made the decision to discontinue diesel engines and transition to a petrol-only lineup. However, many customers were drawn to Maruti Suzuki diesel vehicles due to their superior fuel efficiency – an attribute that petrol engines struggle to replicate.

Addressing this demand, Maruti Suzuki has been expanding its CNG lineup by introducing more variants of existing models powered by this alternative fuel. Beyond the entry-level hatchbacks like Alto K10, S-Presso, WagonR, and Celerio, Maruti Suzuki has extended CNG options to include Swift, Dzire, Baleno, and Ertiga – all of which were favored among diesel car buyers.

Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki has also introduced CNG variants for its premium lineup of vehicles, directly competing with some diesel-powered counterparts. This premium lineup includes models like the Grand Vitara, XL6, Fronx, and now the Brezza. With the Brezza CNG, Maruti Suzuki enters into competition with other diesel-powered compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300.

Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG shares the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with its petrol-powered counterpart. In CNG mode, this engine delivers a maximum power output of 87 bhp and a peak torque output of 121.5 Nm – slightly lower than the petrol version by 16 bhp and 14.5 Nm. Equipped with a standard 5-speed manual transmission, the Brezza CNG is available in three variants – LXI, VXI, and ZXI, with the ZXI variant also offering dual-tone color options.
