Maruti Suzuki has released the official brochure of the Ciaz C-Segment sedan, a car whose launch is slated for early October 2014. Click here to download the Ciaz’s brochure in PDF format. The Ciaz represents Maruti Suzuki’s premium push, and the features that the car encapsulates is reflective of this fact. In fact, Maruti Suzuki has done away with the LXi/LDi variants on the Ciaz, with the car’s variant range starting from the mid VXi/VDi trims. The car’s pricing is likely to take a competitive shade, with prices expected to start near the 7 lakh rupees mark.
The Ciaz is the longest and widest car in the Indian C-Segment sedan category, and these large dimensions give the car generous room on the inside, and a stately look on the outside. Sharing the platform with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV, the Ciaz sedan is powered by petrol and turbo diesel engines, also borrowed from the Ertiga. The 1.4 liter K-Series petrol motor makes 90 Bhp-130 Nm while the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet diesel motor makes 89 Bhp-200 Nm.
On the Ciaz, weight reduction has been a major focus area, and Maruti Suzuki has used high tensile steel to make for a light weight sedan, whose petrol variants tip scales at 1,005 kilograms, while the diesel variant clocks 1,105 kilograms. These light weights make the Ciaz quite frugal, with the petrol powered car clocking 20.73 Kmpl, while the diesel powered Ciaz is the most fuel efficient car in India, with a 26.21 Kmpl mileage figure.
