Maruti’s most expensive car in the market, S-Cross is all set to receive a facelift soon. Even though the new model was unveiled last year in the international market, Indian launch was scheduled to happen in 2017. Now, Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the launch will take place during the Diwali. This information was revealed to us by our sources at Maruti during the launch of the all-new Dzire.
The Indian model will most likely carry forward the changes that were introduced in the European market. The changes are subtle yet make the new S-Cross look little more butch. The 2017 S-Cross gets vertical grille that is much larger in size and makes a bolder appeal. The crossover also gets new diamond cut alloy wheels that look striking but we are not sure if the same wheels will come to the Indian market or Maruti will provide India specific wheels.
The new S-Cross will also get striking LED DRLs and all-LED tail lamps. The projector headlamps will now get LEDs instead of halogens, something that can be seen on newer Maruti models like DZire and Ignis. Overall, the shell design remains the same but minor changes make it look more muscular.
The cabin will also see a host of changes. There will be a touch-sensitive infotainment screen that will feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seats and other equipment will remain same as the current one.
Maruti will continue to power the new S-Cross with the current set of engines. There will be 1.3-litre DDiS engine that produces 89 Bhp of maximum power and 200 Nm of peak torque. A more powerful 1.6-litre diesel engine will also be there with peak power of 118 Bhp and 320 Nm of maximum torque. Maruti may also bring in a petrol version of the car.
The launch of new S-Cross has been confirmed for the festive season that starts around October. The S-Cross may see a marginal price increase with the new features. Stay tuned to get more updates.
