Car service comes home as Maruti Suzuki launches revamped doorstep service initiative

Maruti Suzuki has launched a revamped version of the doorstep service, where trained personnel from the automaker’s authorized service centers will come to your house/office to service your car. This is meant to save the customer the time and hassle of going to a service center for routine car service. It’s also meant to improve Maruti’s service reach in far flung areas.

The doorstep service will be limited to general periodic maintenance that includes jobs as oil change, brake pad change, air filter clean up/replacement and oil filter change. Running repairs will also be carried out through this service. However, for major repairs such as collision damage, the customer will still have to visit the nearest Maruti Suzuki service center.

The revamped doorstep initiative has been rolled out for all Maruti Suzuki cars sold in India, from the Alto 800 at the bottom of the line-up to the S-Cross at the top. This service initiative is meant for petrol, CNG, LPG and diesel powered cars. Maruti has designed service trucks that can be driven right to the customer’s residence for the doorstep service. These trucks are based on the Suzuki Carry, which Maruti sells through its commercial vehicle dealership. Apart from stocking the necessary spares and tools required for routine service, the pick up truck will also host a jack that can lift up the vehicle for underbody inspection.

Underbody inspection is a critical part of routine service that is meant to catch failed/failing parts. By equipping their service trucks with this feature, Maruti Suzuki is taking doorstep service to the next level. While this is not the first time that Maruti Suzuki is operating this service, the latest initiative seeks to improve upon the previous initiatives. Apart from Maruti, Hyundai also offers doorstep service in India.

Commenting on the launch of Service on Wheels, Mr. Partho Banerjee, Executive Director (Service), Maruti Suzuki India, said,

We are delighted to announce the addition of Service on Wheels, a unique service for our customers. A workshop built on a four-wheeler is designed to meet the entire service needs of our customers. Customer satisfaction has always been paramount for Maruti Suzuki, and Service on Wheels is a testament to that.

A key reason for Maruti Suzuki’s continued success in India is its excellent after sales service. By revamping the doorstep car service, Maruti Suzuki will further strengthen its after sales service, making the brand a lot more attractive to new car buyers.
