Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift spotted ahead of launch

India’s largest automobile manufacturer was quiet this year, the only big launch they had this year was the new generation of Celerio. However, Maruti Suzuki is working on a bunch of new products for the next year. Earlier, it was reported that Maruti Suzuki is working on a facelift of the Ertiga. Now, the first test mule of the Ertiga Facelift has been spotted on the Indian roads.

There are two pictures of the MPV that were clicked. We can see that the test mule was not camouflaged. It was finished in white colour and the only element that was hidden was the grille. So, we expect that there will be a new front grille. It will now look closer to the one we saw on the Baleno Facelift.

The rest of the design was identical to the current one. It boasts the same headlamp design, alloy wheels, tail lamps and even the bumpers were the same as the current one. So, we expect that the only change to the 2022 Ertiga will be the new front grille.

The interior of the Ertiga Facelift was not clicked but we expect that there can be redesigned upholstery and some minor feature additions. However, as of now, nothing is confirmed so we would have to wait for the official announcement from Maruti Suzuki or some new spy shots.

There will be no mechanical changes to the Ertiga. It will continue to come with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 105 hp of max power and a peak torque output of 138 Nm. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Ertiga also comes with SHVS or Smart Hybrid Vehicle System that is also offered on the current generation. It provides torque-assist at lower speeds. It also has idle start/stop functionality with dual batteries and an integrated starter generator. This helps in increasing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.

XL6 Facelift also coming

A few days back, a test mule of the XL6 was also spotted on our Indian roads. Unlike the Ertiga,  it was heavily camouflaged. The XL6 could get more updates. This will help in differentiating the XL6 even more from the Ertiga. It is also expected to come with a front grille that is similar to the S-Cross.

According to the rumours, the XL6 will now also come with a 7-seater option. Currently, you can only get the XL6 as a 6-seater which comes with captain seats for the second row. We can also expect some new alloy wheels which might have a diamond-cut design.

XL6 is a more premium vehicle than the Ertiga but it is identical from underneath. So, the chassis, suspension setup, interior design, instrument cluster, engine and gearbox are the same. There are some changes that make XL6 a more up-market vehicle. For instance, a SUV-like front end, broad LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps and a flat bonnet.
