The Fronx will be the brand’s third strike at the coveted SUV segment and will take the spot between the flagship mid-size SUV Grand Vitara and the sub-compact SUV Brezza in the brand’s SUV lineup. The Fronx is one of the most unique products in the country, and it is certainly one of the most ambitious ones from the Indo-Japanese automaker. Maruti has always been known for playing it safe, but with this new model, it hopes to crack a new market.

Currently, with the hype around this baby Grand Vitara, it appears that it has already garnered a ton of interest from buyers across the country, and it will now depend on the pricing of the vehicle whether it will become a hit or a miss for the brand. It has been speculated that the company could be launching this new crossover SUV with a starting price of Rs 6.75 lakh and could charge Rs 11 lakh for the top-of-the-line variant. However, as of yet, nothing is concrete, and we will have to wait for the brand to reveal the pricing next week.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx will be offered with two petrol engine options. The first will be a 1.0-liter Boosterjet petrol engine that will be making a comeback to the Indian market after being discontinued in the Baleno RS. It will be able to generate a maximum power of 100.06 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 147.6 Nm. This engine will be offered with a choice between a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Maruti Suzuki will offer a choice between a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT transmission with this engine.

Recently, mileage figures of both of these powerplants were leaked online, and it was reported that by the spec sheet of the car, it will provide a mileage of 21.5kpl in manual transmission and 20.01kpl in automatic transmission with its 1.0-liter turbo-petrol motor. Meanwhile, it will provide a mileage of 21.79kpl in manual and 22.89kpl in automatic transmission with the 1.2-liter petrol engine.

Other important information revealed by the leaked spec sheet was that the Fronx will measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,550 mm in height, and will have a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. Additionally, the crossover offering will come with a ground clearance of 190 mm. The Fronx will also have a sizable rear boot with a capacity of 308 liters, and its fuel tank will have a capacity of 37 liters.
