The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, recently revealed the pricing for its newest crossover SUV, Fronx, after months of waiting. The company launched this new SUV with a starting price of Rs 7,46,500 for the base variant and up to Rs 13,14,000 for the top-spec variant. Following the price announcement, the company also released an all-new television commercial for the Fronx. The new TVC shows the modern and agile crossover marching through various terrains.
The all-new TVC of the Fronx has been shared on YouTube by the official Nexa Experience channel. In the newest commercial for Fronx, a man can be seen piloting the new crossover through a dusty dirt road between two mountains in the first clip. We can also note an American bald eagle following the car, spanning the entirety of its wings. Following this, the driver then drives the Fronx on a highway and upshifts with the paddle shifter in the car.
The video then shows the internal working mechanism of the 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine offered in the top-of-the-line Alpha variant. After driving the Fronx on the highway, the driver takes a detour and drives the car through rough terrain. He crosses a scrubby forest and then passes over a small ditch filled with water, splashing it across. Moving on, the car can be seen passing through a tunnel and then driving beside a waterfront. This clip highlights the new modern aesthetics of the car, showing the front and rear of the car. Following this, the car reaches its destination, which is a cafe.
The aim of the commercial is to show the agility and aerodynamic design of the new Fronx. Maruti has been hyping up the Fronx for quite a while now, and it makes sense because it is their most ambitious model to date. The company has never offered a crossover before, and it has high hopes for the model. Maruti aims to become one of the biggest SUV makers in the country and has announced plans to take a total of 25 percent market share in the SUV segment in India.
The Fronx, on the outside, looks like a baby Grand Vitara and is based on the brand’s premium hatchback Baleno’s Heartect platform. It features a split LED DRL and LED headlamp setup at the front, with a chunky chrome bar running across its geometric grille. The car on the rear also gets LED taillamps with a connected LED strip and a sizeable faux skid plate. On the inside, the car gets a similar-looking interior like its hatchback sibling Baleno.
As for the drivetrain options, the Fronx shares a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with the Baleno, delivering 90 PS and 113 Nm of torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The top-spec models additionally sport a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is the same Boosterjet motor that powered the now-discontinued Baleno RS. This engine has been improved to meet BS6 stage II emission norms and generates 100 PS and 147 Nm of torque. It is available with both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
