Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door render shows what it will look like in real-life

The craze for the Suzuki Jimny in India is something which is not hidden from anybody. From the massive online calls and petitions to Maruti Suzuki itself showcasing the Jimny at Auto Expo 2020, the little off-roader has built up huge anticipation for itself. It looks like Maruti Suzuki to has realized the potential of the Jimny, which is why it is currently testing a five-door version of the SUV on Indian roads right now. While Maruti Suzuki is yet to reveal how the five-door Jimny will look like, a Japanese website claims to have given an idea about the same.

A Japanese website ‘bestcarweb’ shows a few pictures of digital renderings of the five-door Suzuki Jimny, which might be the version of the off-roader that will come to the Indian car market. Compared to the three-door Jimny which is on sale in many global markets for years now, the five-door Jimny visibly looks bigger with a longer wheelbase and additional rear door panels. Compared to the front doors, the rear doors are of similar size and also come with squared window panels. The rectangular rear quarter glass panels are of the same size as those on the three-door Jimny.

Apart from these details, the single front three-quarter image of this digital rendering shows that the five-door Jimny looks the same as the three-door version. The five-door Jimny also gets an upright and squared-off stance, with angular lines for bonnet and pillars, flared and squared wheel arches and multi-spoke Y-themed alloy wheels. However, the production version is expected to get body cladding for the wheel arches.

The front remains the same

At the front too, this five-door digital rendering of the Suzuki Jimny gets the same fascia as the three-door version. It also gets a rectangular grille with four vertical slats and a Suzuki logo in the middle. There are rounded headlamps with turn indicators, which along with the grille, are encased in a wide black housing spread across the width of the front fascia. The front bumper here has an all-black design with tapered edges and a silver skid plate in the middle, with it having vertically-aligned daytime running LEDs on the sides.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny has already been spied on trial runs in fully camouflaged forms. Going by the first impressions of those images of the trial runs, we can safely say that most of the design highlights of this digital rendering will make their way into the production model.

In all likelihood, the new five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be getting the new-generation 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15C naturally-aspirated petrol engine with the carmaker’s smart hybrid system. This engine will be available with both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options and will claim around 103 PS of power output and 136 Nm of torque output.

Like the global-spec version, the five-door Jimny will also get Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel-drive system as standard throughout the lineup. With this, the new Jimny will pose a fresh challenge to the only lifestyle four-wheel-drive SUV currently available, the Mahindra Thar.
