Yesterday, we shared with you the country’s first-ever modified Maruti Suzuki Jimny five-door with massive 20-inch aftermarket alloy wheels. Today, we have another new Jimny that has been modified, but this time it features super beautiful off-road alloy wheels and all-terrain tires. This particular Jimny has also been fitted with some of the Maruti Suzuki Genuine accessories, and its overall appearance is truly amazing.

Why are smaller wheels and bigger tyre setups common with off-roaders?
The last video we shared of the Jimny with aftermarket wheels and tires featured a massive wheel and low-profile tire setup, which is more suitable for city conditions. However, for off-roading purposes, that setup is not preferred. Real off-roading enthusiasts seek to enhance their 4×4 SUV’s performance and capability when venturing into challenging terrains by equipping their SUVs with smaller alloy wheels and bigger tires. This combination offers several advantages that significantly aid off-roading endeavors, as follows.
Firstly, opting for smaller alloy wheels provides greater clearance between the ground and the vehicle’s undercarriage. This increased ground clearance reduces the risk of damaging essential components such as the differential, axles, and suspension when navigating over rocks, logs, or other obstacles. By avoiding these potential obstacles, the vehicle maintains better traction and stability, improving its overall off-road performance.
Furthermore, larger tires complement the smaller alloy wheels perfectly. Bigger tires have a larger contact patch with the ground, distributing the vehicle’s weight over a larger surface area. This increased contact area enhances traction on uneven and slippery surfaces, such as mud, gravel, or sand. The enhanced traction enables the 4×4 SUV to overcome challenging off-road conditions with improved grip, reducing the likelihood of getting stuck.
The larger sidewalls of the bigger tires offer added benefits in off-roading scenarios. These sidewalls act as natural shock absorbers, effectively absorbing impacts and vibrations encountered on rugged terrain. This reduces the strain on the vehicle’s suspension system, providing a smoother ride and minimizing the risk of damage to the suspension components.
Additionally, the increased sidewall height improves the vehicle’s off-road maneuverability. It allows for more flex, meaning the tires can better conform to irregular surfaces, such as rocks or ditches. This flexibility enhances the tire’s ability to maintain contact with the ground, providing superior traction and stability during off-road adventures.
Moreover, the combination of smaller alloy wheels and bigger tires can enhance the SUV’s overall off-road performance in terms of approach and departure angles. The reduced diameter of the wheels contributes to an increased angle of approach and departure, allowing the vehicle to navigate steeper inclines and descents without scraping the front or rear bumpers. This modification provides the driver with greater confidence and freedom to explore challenging terrains.
