Maruti Suzuki Jimny parked next to a Swift: A closer look at the upcoming 4×4 (Video)

Since the Maruti Suzuki Jimny was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023, anticipation for this compact off-roader has been increasing every passing day. The cute yet rugged Jimny is now being previewed at many NEXA showrooms across India ahead of its launch. While many people are waiting to see what the Jimny looks like, we have come across a video that provides a perspective of its stance.

In a YouTube video from ‘Small Town Rider’, the presenter shows a Kinetic Yellow-coloured Maruti Suzuki Jimny in what appears to be a dealer stockyard. The host gives a quick walkaround of the exterior of the Jimny and explains its exterior and interior features, many of which we have already talked about many times. However, the most interesting part of the video is its thumbnail, which shows the Jimny next to a Swift, giving a reference for comparison. The glimpse of both vehicles parked aside each other indicates that while the Jimny is taller, it is also narrower.

The glimpse also proves that the Jimny has a much higher ground clearance than the Swift, which is expected, considering the former is a proper off-roader, complete with a four-wheel-drive system. The addition of rear doors makes access to the rear seats of the Jimny easier, although the rear seats are only adequate for two full-sized adults.

The video prominently highlights all the features of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny Alpha automatic variant, which is equipped with LED projectors, fog lamps, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and 15-inch grey alloy wheels. The cabin of this variant is also loaded with features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, push start-stop button, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, cruise control, auto AC, and a 6-speaker Arkamys sound system. The list of safety features includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, hill descent control, an electronic stability program, reverse parking sensors, and a rear camera.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny five-door SUV will be available with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, with the choices of 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces 104 PS of power and 136.8 Nm of torque and is paired with Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel-drive system as standard. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Jimny across India in May 2023.
