For those who have been eagerly anticipating the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny’s arrival in showrooms, there is good news. Maruti Suzuki has begun displaying the new Jimny at NEXA dealerships across the country before its official launch, with an authorized showroom in Gurugram being the first to host it.
In a video from the YouTube channel ‘Oye Arjun’, a Maruti Suzuki Jimny is seen being unloaded at a NEXA showroom in Gurugram. The Jimny is fully covered under a black cloth during unloading from a crane, which is taken off after unloading. In the video, which shows the Jimny surrounded by people, it looks pretty big and tall for its compact size, indicating its striking road presence.
The all-new Jimny seen in the video is in its signature shade of Kinetic Yellow, which is easily the most eye-catching color of the SUV. The video shows the Jimny entering the NEXA showroom floor and being parked under the showroom’s spotlight area. The new Jimny is expected to be officially launched toward the end of April 2023. Before the launch, it will be displayed at all the NEXA showrooms across the country to gauge public interest and build up anticipation for the SUV.
Maruti Suzuki announced the arrival of the new five-door Jimny by unveiling it at the Auto Expo in January 2023. It was showcased beside the all-new Fronx crossover, which is also expected to arrive officially in the coming weeks. The new Jimny retains the classic neo-retro design of the three-door Jimny sold overseas, with a longer wheelbase and two additional doors for the second row.
After unveiling the new Jimny, Maruti Suzuki announced the commencement of bookings for the lifestyle off-roader at all of its authorized dealer outlets and on its official website. During its unveiling, Maruti Suzuki was tight-lipped about the prices and launch timeline of the SUV. However, dealerships have confirmed that they will be receiving the first batches of the new Jimny in the second half of April 2023.
Available only with petrol engine
The new Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be available solely with a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, which will be offered with the options of a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. The new Jimny claims 104 PS of maximum power and 138 Nm of maximum torque and will be available with Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel-drive system as standard. The new Jimny will be offered in two variants – Zeta and Alpha and will compete with the Mahindra Thar once launched in India.
