Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Vlogger compares modified vs stock SUV [video]

The Jimny was one of the most awaited products from Maruti Suzuki this year. Enthusiasts have been waiting for this SUV to be launched in India for years. Ever since its market launch, the SUV has received an overwhelming response from customers. Many people who thought the Thar was not practical enough because of its three-door design are attracted to the Jimny because of its five-door practicality. Deliveries for the Maruti Jimny have started, and modifications have also begun. Here we have a video where a Jimny owner compares his modified Jimny with a stock SUV to show the differences and modifications.

The video has been uploaded by Modified Hub on their YouTube channel. This was one of the first Jimny SUVs in the country to have such massive wheels. The vlogger mentions that the SUV he owns is a lower variant that misses out on features like projector headlamps, headlamp washer, fog lamps, and many more. The Kinetic Yellow-colored Jimny is a top-end variant. The first difference one would notice on these SUVs is the wheels. Maruti Suzuki is offering 15-inch alloy wheels with higher variants of the Jimny. The owner was not happy with them and opted for 20-inch aftermarket alloy wheels.

The new alloy wheels have completely changed the overall look of the Jimny. They have also made the SUV taller than before. The other major modification done to this SUV is the suspension. The panhard rods on this Jimny were replaced with a custom-made unit, which is more suitable for off-roading and bigger wheels. Along with that, the springs on this suspension have also been modified. After installing the 20-inch wheels, the tires were rubbing against the front bumper as there was no room left. In order to resolve this issue, the vlogger had to actually cut the edges of the bumper.

The new suspension setup on this SUV has also helped increase the overall ground clearance. On the side profile, everything looks the same as stock. The 20-inch wheels are wide and stick out of the fenders. The stock Jimny comes with HT tires, while the modified one comes with AT tires, which are slightly more suitable for off-roading. However, during the media drives, the Jimny proved that it is capable enough to off-road even on stock tires. The stock version gets UV cut glass, while the modified one has tinted glass installed (which is illegal). At the rear, the modified SUV has the same 20-inch wheels as the spare wheel. The tailgate opens and closes without any issues. Another noticeable change in this SUV is the tail lamp. The stock halogen tail lamps have been replaced with G-Wagen-like aftermarket smoked LED tail lamps.

No further modifications have been made to this SUV. The owner, however, mentions in the video that he plans to further modify the SUV and is also considering buying official Nexa accessories for the Jimny. The modified Jimny is still powered by the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, and no changes have been made to enhance performance.
