Maruti Suzuki Jimny vs flooded Delhi road [Video]

Jimny in flooded roads of Delhi

The past week has been very difficult for people living in many parts of Delhi. Due to the rise in water levels in the Yamuna River, several low-lying areas have gone underwater. Many roads and streets are flooded, and the rain has also affected the lives of common people. Thousands of individuals have been relocated to higher ground as a result. Additionally, numerous vehicles have been affected by the recent flood, with several videos depicting people driving through flooded roads. We have previously discussed the risks associated with such actions. Here, we have a video showing a Maruti Suzuki Jimny navigating the flooded roads of Delhi.

The video was shared by Muishsardana on their YouTube channel. However, the specific location and details about this particular Jimny are not mentioned in the video. It appears that the owner of this Jimny was attempting to showcase the vehicle’s capabilities by driving through flooded roads. In the video, we can clearly see the Jimny moving forward through the floodwaters without any issues. The water covers approximately half of the Jimny’s front grille.

Since it was a proper road, the driver was able to maintain a constant speed and did not get stuck anywhere. The driver successfully drove through the water, but it does not show if the car encountered any deeper sections where it might have become stuck. The Maruti Jimny has a water wading capacity of 300 mm, which proved useful during this drive. Currently, the Maruti Jimny is the only 4×4 SUV available in Maruti’s lineup.

Although the driver effortlessly navigated the flooded roads, should you attempt the same? If you ask us, we would advise against it. Things can quickly go wrong. Due to the water on the road, new potholes may have formed, and in some cases, roads have been completely washed away. Many people often drive too close to the edge of the road and end up getting stuck in drains.

If you are unsure about the road ahead, it is always a good idea to take an alternative route. If no other options are available, then you might have to take your chances. Even if you have to drive through flooded roads, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind. Make sure the water is not too deep, as deep water can enter the air intake and cause hydro lock in the engine. Repairing the engine is a time-consuming and costly process. It does not appear that the SUV in the video was modified in any way for off-roading. At the very least, a snorkel would have greatly aided its performance in this case.

The Maruti Jimny is powered by a petrol engine only. It is available with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine that generates 105 PS and 136 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with both a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. 4×4 capability comes as a standard feature.
