Maruti Suzuki launches new variant of Ignis AMT

Maruti has now launched the Ignis AMT Alpha petrol priced at Rs. 7.02 lakh and AMT Alpha diesel at Rs. 8.08 lakh, both prices ex-showroom-Delhi. The new variant gets the 5-speed AMT from the lower level options. The petrol car is powered by 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 83 Bhp – 113 Nm of maximum torque while the diesel engine is a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced  Multijet engine that produces a maximum power of 75 Bhp and 190 Nm of torque.

Apart from the introduction of the 5-speed AMT, the equipment remains the same. The car gets dual airbags as standard, ABS (anti-lock brakes) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution) as the safety equipment. There are ISOFIX child seat hooks as standard too. The Ignis is built on Suzuki’s total effective control technology, which is a new generation rigid platform optimised for the protection of the occupants. Maruti also says that the automatic cars are easier to maintain too.

R.S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Our premium urban compact vehicle IGNIS has been created for millennials, a one of a kind brand in the Indian market. Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) on the IGNIS, so far offered in the Delta and Zeta trims, has been widely appreciated by customers and accounts for 27 per cent of IGNIS sales. We are now offering AGS in the top trim as well – IGNIS Alpha. We expect this to strengthen brand IGNIS and enhance the popularity of AGS amongst millennials.”

According to Maruti, the AMT variants get 27 percent of all sales of Ignis sold in India.
