Five new CNG Maruti Suzuki cars
As we had reported at DWS some days back, India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has launched five of its models fitted with CNG systems. The smallest of the five cars to get the CNG option is the Alto (hatchback), followed by the Estilo (hatchback), WagonR (hatchback), Eeco (MPV) and the SX4 (sedan). These five new CNG models from Maruti Suzuki would be available in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Gujrat as of now.
Prices for new Maruti Suzuki CNG cars
Alto Lxi CNG: Rs 3.23 lakhs (petrol variant price Rs 2.78 lakhs)
Estilo Lxi CNG: Rs 4.05 lakhs (petrol variant price Rs 3.55 lakhs)
WagonR Lxi CNG: Rs 4.11 lakhs (petrol variant price Rs 3.61 lakhs)
Eeco (AC + 5 seater) CNG: Rs 3.64 lakhs (petrol variant price Rs 3.09 lakhs)
SX4 Vxi CNG: Rs 7.47 lakhs (petrol variant price Rs 6.92 lakhs)
The new CNG variants use i-GPI (Intelligent Gas Port Injection bi fuel technology) which is is safe, reliable, clean, responsive and environment friendly according to Maruti Suzuki. Ownership costs, obviously, would be lower with CNG cars.
Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director & CEO Maruti Suzuki India said that this was the first time when a car maker developed and launched CNG engines that are factory-fitted and technically superior.
The company claims that with i-GPI CNG systems, the cars are as fast as petrol variants.
Maruti has also ensured that these CNG versions also get the full warranty and after sales support through its wide service network that’s close to 2700 centre’s across the length and breadth of the country.
