The S-Cross was never really a successful product for Suzuki. The manufacturer is already working on a new generation of S-Cross. It will be replacing the current S-Cross as it has started to show its age and is not really selling in good numbers. According to some media reports, the S-Cross is expected to get revealed in Europe sometime in 2022.
The S-Cross will come with all new styling for the exterior. Suzuki will also be revamping the interior of the S-Cross. The engine will also be now supported by hybrid technology. This will be done to decrease the emissions and boost the fuel economy of the vehicle. Toyota will be helping Suzuki with the electrification of the engines. So, the hybrid technology is expected to come from Toyota.
Not much information is available about the new S-Cross but we do know few details about the engine. There will be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that we have seen on the current S-Cross, Ciaz, XL6, Ertiga and the Vitara Brezza. The engine produces 104 PS of max power and 138 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Currently, there is a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox also available with the engine. However, there are talks about a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that will make its debut.

There are also rumours that Suzuki will also offer a 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine with the new S-Cross. The engine is also currently doing duty in the Swift Sport which is not offered in India. The engine is much more powerful than the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit as it produces 127 bhp of max power and a peak torque output of 235 Nm. Internationally the S-Cross would also be offered with a 4×4 AllGrip system. However, in India, the S-Cross would stay a front-wheel-drive vehicle.
More upcoming vehicles
Suzuki is working on quite a few new vehicles. They are working on a new generation of Swift that will make its debut in 2023. Then there will be a new Vitara SUV which will also be the new flagship vehicle. It will be a mid-size SUV that will be going against rivals like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
The Jimny is in the most demand for Suzuki. They are working on increasing the production capacity for Jimny. The manufacturer has already started exporting the SUV from India. They also launched a commercial version of the Jimny in the UK and a more affordable version called Jimny Lite in Australia. Suzuki is also working on an LWB version of the Jimny whereas India will get a 5-seater version of the Jimny.
There will also be an all-new generation of the Vitara Brezza. Despite the update last year, the design of the compact SUV has started to show its age when compared to other compact SUVs that look much attractive. Maruti Suzuki is also working on a new compact SUV that will sit below the Vitara Brezza. It will share its underpinnings with the Baleno. This will help in pricing the new compact SUV aggressively.
