Maruti Suzuki just launched the 2022 XL6 in the Indian market. The price of the new XL6 starts at Rs. 11.29 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 14.55 lakhs ex-showroom. We also get to see famous Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh in the video. Maruti Suzuki is using the “Time To Indulge” slogan for the XL6 Facelift.
The XL6 is now offered in three variants. There is Zeta and Alpha and Alpha+. It competes directly against Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo. The XL6 still comes only as a 6-seater MPV. So, you get two captain seats for the second row. Earlier, it was expected that Maruti Suzuki will introduce a bench seat 7-seater version but that did not happen.

Maruti Suzuki has given special attention to safety equipment. They are offering 4 airbags, rear parking sensors, an Anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Assist, ISOFIX child seats, seat belt reminders, high-speed alert, security alarm and much more. On the higher variants, you get a 360-degree parking camera and tyre pressure monitoring system.
As standard, the 2022 XL6 comes with LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, a height-adjustable driver seat, a multi-information display, automatic climate control, roof-mounted AC for the second row, a push button to start/stop the engine, air-cooled cupholder, smart key, cruise control and accessory sockets. Moreover, you also get electrically adjustable and foldable outside rearview mirrors, multi-function steering wheel, LED fog lamps, rear defogger, rear wiper and washer and much more. On higher variants, you get a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette seats, ventilated front seats and automatic headlamps.
On the Zeta variant, you get a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio system whereas on the Alpha and Alpha+ you get the new SmartPlay Pro system. Both are touchscreen infotainment systems but the SmartPlay Pro system gets a new user interface and voice assistant. Both come with four speakers, two tweeters, Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Then there is the new Suzuki Connect connected car technology. It can send you emergency alerts, valet alerts, breakdown notifications, stolen vehicle notifications and tracking, geofencing etc. Then there is the application that gives you details about the vehicle such as Overspeed, ac idling, low fuel and range, dashboard view etc. You can also control various functions of your car such as door lock/unlock, remote AC on AT variants, Smartwatch connectivity, headlight on/off, alarm, immobilizer request, battery health hazard light on/off etc.
Engine and gearbox
The XL6 now comes with a new K15C Smart Hybrid petrol engine. It is still a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit but now comes with dual injectors per cylinder instead of a single injector. This DualJet technology and Smart Hybrid system help in increasing the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.
The engine produces 101 bhp of max power and 136 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission which does come with paddle shifters.
The fuel efficiency of the manual gearbox is rated at 20.97 kmpl whereas the automatic transmission it is rated at 20.27 kmpl.
