Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Facelift spotted

Facing the heat from new product launches in the compact sedan segment, market leader Maruti Suzuki is all set to give the Swift Dzire a facelift. Images of the facelifted Dzire have surfaced on the interweb and from what we can see, the cosmetic makeover is a mild one. The facelifted Dzire is expected to hit roads in the second half of this year, along with the facelifted Swift hatchback, which is also expected to get a similar makeover.

Meanwhile, the Dzire Facelift caught on camera is uncamouflaged, and this suggests two things.

1. The Dzire Facelift is close to being launched in India.

or

2. The car has been spotted inside the factory.

The front end of the Dzire gets a smattering of chrome with a revised front grille. The headlamps get a smoked finish as well. On the inside, the car gets a push button start system and a key less entry system, and these features are available even on the mid-VXi model, which indicates that the top-end ZXi/ZDi variants’ differentiating factors will be that of safety equipment such as airbags and ABS. Expect a few more feature additions to the facelifted Dzire.

Engines and transmissions wise, the Dzire will retain the 1.2 liter K-Series petrol (86 Bhp-114 Nm) and the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet (75 Bhp-190 Nm) turbo diesel engines. The petrol motor will continue to be offered with 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic gearboxes while the diesel engined version of the Dzire will make do with a 5 speed manual transmission. Top end ZXi and ZDi variants of the car will feature twin airbags and ABS+EBD.

The Dzire is India’s largest selling sedan but the car’s lead has come under pressure from the likes of the Honda Amaze and the recently launched Hyundai Xcent. This pressure has seen Dzire’s April sales dip for the first time in many years. The coming months will see the launch of the Tata Zest compact sedan, a car that will bring segment leading features to the table. With the heightened competition, the facelift of the Dzire is intended to keep the car fresh and current.
