After launching the CNG-powered iterations of Baleno and XL6, Maruti Suzuki is now gearing up to launch the CNG iterations of its next popular offering, the Brezza compact SUV. The new Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG was recently spied on in a dealer stockyard, as revealed in a YouTube video uploaded by Real Gaadi. It indicates that the launch of the new Brezza CNG is just around the corner.
In the video, we can see that the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG has no visual differences over its petrol-powered counterpart. On the outside, it looks the same as the regular version of the Brezza, with the sleek-looking grille with chrome accents, projector headlamps with dual L-shaped daytime running LEDs, fog lamps, front and rear heavy black cladding, and a muscular design. However, there is an additional nozzle for filling CNG placed beside the nozzle for petrol inside the fuel tank lid on the side.

While the video doesn’t reveal the interior shots of the Brezza CNG, expect the interior to be the same as the petrol version. However, the instrument console might come revised with an additional gauge for the CNG level. Expect to see features like a free-mounted touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, head-up display and sunroof in the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG.

The video also reveals that the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG will be offered in four variants – LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+, much like its petrol-powered counterpart. All these variants will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, what can be a game-changer for Maruti Suzuki is the optional 6-speed automatic gearbox to be offered in the VXI, ZXI and ZXI+ variants. With this, the Brezza becomes the first-ever vehicle in India to be offered with an optional automatic transmission with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
In all likelihood, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG will be offered with the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine from the Ertiga CNG. With the CNG kit in place, the engine here claims 88 PS of maximum power and 121.5 Nm of maximum torque, however, in the pure petrol mode, this engine develops 103 PS of maximum power and 136.8 Nm of maximum torque.
Currently, there is no other compact SUV which is available with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Considering the popularity of CNG-powered vehicles, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG might gain from the advantage of being a first-mover in the market.
