Maruti Suzuki WagonR 7-seater launch in July

Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the all-new 7-seater version of the WagonR in the Indian market. Earlier this year, Maruti launched the all-new WagonR based on the HEARTECT platform. The all-new WagonR is much bigger in size when compared to the outgoing version of the car but the new 7-seater version is expected to get a slightly longer wheelbase to comfortably accommodate the last row seats.

According to Car and Bike, the three-row version of the WagonR is ready to be launched in the Indian market. Also, the report claims that the new car is expected to be sold through the premium Nexa dealership network of the brand. The launch of the Maruti Suzuki 7-seater WagonR has been rumoured for a long time now. According to the report, the launch of the new WagonR has caused the sales to slow down since it is bigger than the previous-generation car and also comes with a bigger price tag. The launch of the all-new 7-seater version of the WagonR will help the brand to maintain the sales figure in the market.

Since it is a 7-seater vehicle and will target a limited number of buyers, Maruti may exclusively sell it through the Nexa dealership network. Currently, there are no 7-seater available in the Nexa network. It should be noted that Maruti Suzuki may soon launch the 6-seater version of the Ertiga, which is also expected to be sold through the premium Nexa dealership network. However, the exact launch date of the upcoming, more premium version of the Ertiga is not known.

Coming back to the WagonR 7-seater, it is likely to be longer in length than the WagonR hatchback and will get a different name to differentiate it from the regular model of the car. Maruti is also testing the EV version of the WagonR in India and in the future, an electrified version of the vehicle can also be expected to be launched in the market.

The seven-seater version of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR will be powered by the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine that was introduced in the all-new WagonR. It produces a maximum power of 82 Bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm. It will get both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission.

The WagonR 7-seater will take on the likes of the Datsun GO+, which is also the seven-seater version of the Datsun Go hatchback. Renault will also launch a similar 7-seater MPV in the Indian market that will be based on the Kwid’s CMF-A platform. The MPV will be known as the Renault Triber and will come with removable third-row seating. No such feature will be available with the Maruti Suzuki WagonR 7-seater but it is likely to get other features like the touchscreen infotainment system, airbags, ABS+EBD and more.
