Maruti Suzuki WagonR Duo LPG launched at Rs 3.97 lakh

Maruti Suzuki India has launched the WagonR Duo, the LPG variant of popular small car WagonR, as per the company’s official website. The LPG variant (WagonR Duo) is around Rs. 33,000 more than the petrol version of WagonR.

The new Maruti WagonR Duo is available only in one variant, the LXI LPG BS4, and is priced at Rs. 3. 97 lakh for the non-metallic paint model and Rs. 4.01 lakh for the metallic paint model. The WagonR petrol LXI variant is priced at Rs. 3.64 lakh for the non-metallic paint model and Rs. 3.67 lakh for the metallic paint. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Remember that this is the LPG-petrol variant of the new WagonR, not the old one which continued to be sold by the company after the launch of the new WagonR petrol. Maruti claims a mileage of 14.4 km/litre in LPG mode and 18.7 km/litre in the petrol mode for the WagonR Duo.

The WagonR Duo or the WagonR LPG is certified by DOE (Department of Explosives) and ARAI. Further, to ensure maximum safety, a visual indication (diagnostic system) informs the driver of any LPG-related problems, shutting off the LPG automatically and making the car run on petrol. The LPG tank of the Maruti WagonR Duo can hold 22.5 litres and the petrol can hold 35 litres. The combined (LPG & petrol) range would be around 890 km assuming the average fuel consumption in petrol mode to be 17 km/litre and in LPG 13.5 km/litre.

The LPG version has a dual ECU (Engine Control Unit), which, along with CAN (Controller Area Network) technology helps the car shift from LPG mode to petrol and vice versa.

The LPG kit of the WagonR Duo is positioned in a compact way to not take up too much boot space. Besides, the spare wheel is also mounted on one side of the car to make the boot more spacious for luggage. The rear seat, too, can be folded via the 60/40 rear split which helps in maximizing the storage space when needed.

Maruti WagonR Duo priced at Rs. 3.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will compete with the Chevrolet Beat LPG, which is priced at Rs. 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane).
