The all-new Ertiga was launched in the Indian market last year and it has become the best-selling seven-seater in the Indian market since then. Currently, the Ertiga only offers a 7-seater configuration, which is laid out in 2+3+2 configuration. However, the rivals like Mahindra Marazzo and the more premium Toyota Innova Crysta also offer a 6-seater version in India. For long, Maruti Suzuki has been working on the 6-seater version of the Ertiga in the market and it has been finally caught on camera by GaadiWaadi.

The pictures of the car from the rear show its badging. The first thing that comes to notice is the XL6 badging in the rear of the car, which is the production version name of the vehicle. The name has been derived from the XL7 name, which was the name of the 7-seater Grand Vitara, which was on sale in the Indian market a few years back. The XL6 name denotes the 6 seats in the vehicle.

It will be the 6th car in the Nexa line-up and will be the first MUV to be sold through the premium channel of the brand. The premium Nexa channel, which offers a luxury car buying and owning experience currently offers Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz and S-Cross in the Indian market. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be the sixth vehicle from the brand.

The pictures of the cars spotted while testing only shows the rear and front. The new picture of the front of the XL6 shows the new front-end design of the vehicle. It gets a new grille and different headlamps that differentiates it from the regular Ertiga. Also, there is a large skid plate at the front and it seems like the fog lamps are projectors. The overall shape of the Ertiga remains the same.

On the inside, the car will get four captain seats while the last-row seat will be a simple, bench type seat. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine that is also available with the Ciaz in the Indian market. Since Maruti Suzuki has announced about the discontinuation of diesel-powered vehicles in the Indian market, the diesel engines are highly unlikely to be offered with the Ertiga too. With the petrol engine, an optional 4-speed torque converter is also available.
