The Hyundai Grand i10 has been outselling the Maruti Swift, and this has led to the emergence of a new limited edition version of the latter. Maruti has quietly slipped in the limited edition version to make the Swift more exciting. An all-new Swift is coming next year to the Indian market, and this is perhaps the last makeover for the current hatchback sold here. The limited edition car gets a slew of features that make it quite attractive, especially for the smartphone generation.
The interiors gain a new touchscreen infotainment panel with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The touchscreen panel is the one similar to what Maruti offers on the Brezza. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are among the hottest new Smartphone syncing features that almost all modern cars have begun to offer. Other changes on the interiors are revised seat fabric, a cover for the steering wheel, new carpets and speakers with extra bass. On the exteriors, Maruti has given the limited edition Swift new graphics.
The Swift Limited Edition is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is the 1.2 liter K-Series unit with 85 PS and 112 Nm. The diesel engine is the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged unit with 74 Bhp and 190 Nm. Both engines get 5 speed automatic gearboxes. There is no automatic gearbox option available. Prices of the limited edition Swift start from Rs. 5.45 lakhs for the petrol and Rs. 6.40 lakhs for the diesel models respectively. The Limited Edition models are placed bween the LXi/LDi and VXi/VDi variants.
The new Swift, which will be launched in 2018, will continue with the same engines as the current model. However, it will be much lighter due to the use of the HEARTECT platform. It will also offer AMT options on both the petrol and diesel models. It is expected to be more feature loaded and spacious as well.
