Upcoming Maruti Suzuki XL6: 6 BIG changes over the Ertiga!

Maruti Suzuki will launch the all-new XL6 in the Indian market on 21st August. The much-awaited car will be based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga but will offer a few major changes and will target a different set of customers. How different the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be from the Ertiga? Here are six big changes that the upcoming car will offer over the Ertiga.

Comfortable cabin

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga offers 7-seats. The 2+3+2 configuration of the Ertiga is the only choice available with the car. The XL6, as the name suggests will offer 6-seats only. The bench seat of the Ertiga in the middle row will be replaced with the pilot seats. The XL6 will offer 2+2+2 seating arrangement. Also, the seats of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be leather-wrapped, while the Ertiga only offers fabric upholstery. This will make the cabin much more premium and comfortable.

All-LED headlamps

An official teaser image from Maruti Suzuki reveals that the XL6 will get a full LED headlamp set-up. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga only offers the halogen headlamps, even in the top-end variant. The LED headlamps will make the exterior look much more premium and will offer better visibility at night.

Sporty interior

While the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga offers a dual-tone black and beige cabin theme, the XL6 will get an all-black theme. The official picture of the dashboard reveals that the wooden bits on the Ertiga will be replaced with darker wood. The whole set-up looks extremely good and darker theme ensures that the cabin feels sporty.

Bigger size

The new XL6 is based on the Ertiga, however, the vehicle is slightly bigger than the Ertiga in the dimensions. The XL6 is 50mm longer, 40mm wider and 10 mm taller than the Ertiga. This will translate into bigger cabin space. However, the wheelbase of 2,740mm will remain the same.

Premium buying experience

Even though Maruti Suzuki offers one of the best buying experiences, their Nexa arm ups the ante and offers an even better experience. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is currently sold through the regular Arena dealership but the XL6 will be available exclusively through the premium Nexa dealerships of the brand. The Maruti Suzuki Nexa currently sells four cars – Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz and the S-Cross. The Ertiga will be the first MPV that will be sold through the premium dealership.

Sportier exterior

The exterior of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be quite different from the Ertiga as seen in the picture from GaadiWaadi. While the Ertiga offers a large chrome grille at the front, the XL6 will offer a minimalistic look with the single-piece grille at the front and newly designed headlamps. It also gets skid plate at the front and the rear and thick black cladding all around. This makes the XL6 look very different and also adds a lot of road presence to the car compared to the Ertiga.
