Maruti XL6 converted to CNG: Check it out [Video]

Maruti Suzuki recently launched XL6 in India. It is basically the premium version of the Ertiga MPV and is priced accordingly. The XL6 is a 6-seater MPV which gets captain seats in the middle row. As it is a premium MPV, Maruti Suzuki sells the XL6 via Nexa dealerships only. Maruti Suzuki XL6 is only available with a petrol engine. Here is an XL6, may be the first in the country to get a CNG kit. The video of this CNG powered XL6 was uploaded by cngMarutiAutogas CNG on their Youtube page.

This is not the first time that we are seeing petrol powered car with an aftermarket CNG kit, but most of the time people wait for the warranty of the car to get over. Here in this video we can see that the XL6 used is a brand new car. It doesn’t even have a proper number plate fixed. It gets Zavoli’s CNG kit and is installed by Maruti Auto Gas , Gujarat, Surat.

Coming back to the premium MPV, Maruti Suzuki XL6 has good street presence and is quite distinct from the Ertiga on road. It shares the same HEARTECT platform with the Ertiga, and is powered by the 1.5 liter K-Series petrol mild hybrid engine that puts out 104 Bhp-138 Nm. 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic gearboxes are on offer.

Maruti has not introduced a diesel engine in XL6 to keep the costs down. They might officially announce a CNG version of the XL6 after the implementation of BS6 emission norms as Maruti will be putting a stop on production of smaller diesel engines. They might also introduce the BS6 compliant 1.5L diesel engine in XL6 which Suzuki has developed inhouse and is available in Ertiga and Ciaz already.

The video just simply shows the components installed on the car like the filling nozzle and all the wirings under the hood, pressure gauge, fuel gauge and  gas cylinder in the boot. It doesn’t say anything about the warranty of the kit or anything about what happens to warranty of the vehicle.

Maruti Suzuki is offering the XL6 in four variants across two trim levels. They are – Zeta MT, Alpha MT,  Zeta AT and the range-topping Alpha AT. Prices for the XL6 start at Rs 9.72 lakh and go all the way up to Rs. 11.46 lakh for the top-end Alpha AT variant. The MPV has proven to be a big success, just like the Ertiga.
